Not the practice. Here it is a calculated quantity: the combined longitude of Sun and Moon, divided into 27 named parts. Some are held auspicious (Siddha, Amrita), some avoided (Vyatipata, Vaidhriti). Vyatipata and Vaidhriti are also punya-kala in their own right for ancestral offerings.
