Vijaya Muhurta

The eighth muhurta of the day, associated with undertakings that must succeed.

The daylight span from sunrise to sunset is divided into fifteen equal parts; Vijaya is the eighth of them, so it straddles the middle of the day. The name means victory, and it is the window traditionally chosen for setting out or beginning something contested. Because it is a division of real daylight, its clock time and its length both change through the year.
