Varjyam
The portion of a nakshatra to be avoided.
Literally what is to be shunned. Like Amrit Kalam it is a conventional fraction of the nakshatra's own span, computed from that nakshatra's real start and end rather than from a fixed time, and the two are related — Amrit Kalam is conventionally reckoned a fixed interval after Varjyam. It can fall at any hour, and some civil days contain none at all.
