Gowri Panchangam
The day and night split into eight named parts each.
The daylight span is divided into eight equal parts and the night into eight more; each part carries a name — Amrutha, Siddha, Labha, Dhanam, Sugam, Soram, Rogam, Visham — and the sequence of names rotates with the weekday. It is used in southern practice as a quick reading of which parts of a day are favourable. The division is of real daylight, so the parts are not equal in clock terms between summer and winter.
