Adhika Masa

The extra lunar month, roughly every 32.5 months.

Twelve lunar months are about eleven days short of a solar year. The correction is a whole extra month inserted when a lunar month contains no solar sankranti. Festivals in an adhika masa are generally observed in the following nija (true) month, and an adhika year has 26 Ekadashis rather than 24.
