Why The reason behind it
Kartikeya's defeat of Tarakasura is the narrative; the six days answer to the six faces, as in the Tamil observance. The Maharashtrian layer identifies Khandoba with the same figure, which is why Champa Shashti concludes a Khandoba vrat rather than a Murugan one.
