What In short
The Assamese harvest festival, and the feasting one of the three Bihus. Temporary huts of bamboo and thatch — the meji and bhelaghar — are built, the community eats in them through Uruka night, and the meji is burnt at dawn.

Why The reason behind it
Bhogali means of feasting, and the name is literal: the granary is full and the festival is the eating of it. The meji burnt at dawn returns the structure to the fire, and the ash is scattered on the fields — the harvest going back to the ground that produced it.

How At home, step by step
- Build the bhelaghar and the meji before Uruka night.
- Feast through Uruka; fish and meat are eaten where the household eats them.
- Burn the meji at dawn and scatter the ash on the fields.
- Buffalo fights and egg fights are held in some places.
